16 November 2011

Periods 4 and 6
Grade 10

Read aloud from Unwind.  Afterwards, the class viewed a film called The Last Days, a documentary of the Shoah (Holocaust) from the testimonies of 5 survivors, all from Hungary, who were deported to Auschwitz in 1944.  Students must note 5 observations from the film that are similar to Elie Wiesel's experiences in his memoir, Night.  Also, they must think of 3 questions that they might ask the survivors.

Students were reminded that they must finish their outside reading books by Monday, December 5th.  There will be an in-class assessment on that day.

Periods 3 and 7
Grade 12
Word of the day:  invective

Currently reading "The Wife of Bath's Tale".  Reminded students of the word quiz tomorrow, Thursday, 11-17.  Also, next week there will be an in-class essay writing on one of the Canterbury Tales that we have read.  Students should follow the format of the 7 questions used in reading a Canterbury Tale as these will help organize their thoughts.

On Monday, the students will be visiting the library for the first time to begin research for their research papers.  They will have a writing assignment to complete demonstrating their initial work at this visit.

Students were also reminded that they must choose an outside reading book soon because there will be an in-class assessment on Tuesday, 12-6.

Have a great evening!!
