English 10 CP

Period 1  Today, shared our poems with the class; collected vocabulary homework; began explicating "Auto Wreck" by Karl Shapiro/will finish up tomorrow.

Period 4  Today, finished our consideration of "Auto Wreck" by Karl Shapiro; literature anthologies distributed and students assigned poems from their books to explicate/tomorrow group work

English 12 CP

Period 3  WORD OF THE DAY:  engender
Test on Anglo-Saxon elegies today; tomorrow Word of the Day quiz/be familiar with words from tenacious to aplomb.  Please note:  you are responsible for words even on days (D-days) when we do not meet.  (Words you may not have:  acrimony and convivial).

Period 6  WORD OF THE DAY:  engender
Today, began discussion of epic poetry/notes given on definitions, setting, action, and epic conventions as well as mention of Joseph Campbell's 5 steps of a hero's journey>call to action, crossing the threshold, enduring tests, enduring the ultimate test, return home and the world is a better place.  (Sorry, guys!  I forgot the call to action step this afternoon.)  See you Monday...have a great week-end!
