Periods 7 and 3 Grade 12
Today's word:  redact
So far, the words in this cycle are:  pretentious, panacea, diffident, pristine, garrulous, amicable, cruciverbalist, egregious, inscrutable, and inextricably.
Yesterday was the due date for the rough drafts of your research papers.  Today, your sonnets a la Shakespeare were due. 
We began Hamlet today with a "read-around" of Act I scene 1 lines 1-100. 

Periods 6 and 4 Grade 10
We began a new read-aloud book called White Crow by Marcus Sedgwick.  We read to page 9 today.  Began a new vocabulary unit.  The 1st ten words are:  atone, bondage, credible, defray, diligent, doleful, ghastly, hamper, hew, impoverished.  FOR HOMEWORK, please write two sentences for each word.
Group work continued.  In the process of writing introduction and conclusion with final, typed essays due Monday.

Period 1 Grade 10
Today, the class read independently before lunch.  Afterwards, we began a close reading, line by line, of "In Blackwater Woods" by Mary Oliver.  We are preparing for the common task by practicing how to read a poem and how to write about a poem.
