WELCOME to the new school year 2011-2012!

GRADE 12
PERIODS 3 and 7

Senior year is a busy, defining year.  We dug in immediately with vocabulary practice in the form of a word-a-day, reading Anglo-Saxon poetry, and writing interviews and essays.

We have already had two quizzes, one on 12 vocabulary words and one on the introduction to Anglo-Saxon history.

We have interviewed classmates and have written brief essays on what makes them interesting.

We read three poems -- "The Seafarer", "The Wanderer", and "The Wife's Lament".  This past Wednesday, there was an in-class essay writing on the theme of exile.

Students are currently reading their research paper books.  All should be taking copious notes for their later research papers.  For now, students should be preparing their outside reading projects -- a theme tracking project -- which are due Thursday, 10-20-2011.

This week, NECAP exams will force a change in some daily scheduling, so please have your outside reading books with you.  This way, if I am proctoring an exam during our scheduled meeting time, you will be able to get some reading done.

Also on the agenda for this week is the start to our Beowulf unit.
